I get this error under Admin > Skins.  Error is...

Error: Skins is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: E:\0\1\89\84\1904084\user\2072161\htdocs\Admin\Skins\EditSkins.ascx.vb(175): error BC30456: 'GetSkin' is not a member of 'DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.SkinController'. ---> System.Web.HttpCompileException: E:\0\1\89\84\1904084\user\2072161\htdocs\Admin\Skins\EditSkins.ascx.vb(175): error BC30456: 'GetSkin' is not a member of 'DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.SkinController'. at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.CompileWebFile(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResult(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.ControlUtilities.LoadControl[T](TemplateControl containerControl, String ControlSrc) at DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.ModuleHost.LoadModuleControl() --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I also get a similar error when I attempt to access Host > Module Definitions

Also get a similar error when attempting to access Host > Languages.  When I go to Admin > Languages I get a similar error except instead of "Languages" it says "Custom Portal Locale".

My sites are functioning but this severely limits my ability to manage them.  Anybody know what I should do?

Thanks a ton for the help!

Troy

it sounds to me, not all files have been properly replaced. try to re-unzip files. Have there errors listed in the upgrade log?

Thanks for your assistance Sebastian!  You seem to be the only one willing to help me!

I did re-overlay the 5.2.2 files a few hours after I originally applied the upgrade (on Sunday 1/24/10).  I then attempted to re-initiate the install but I never got a response from hitting the install URL... I am assuming that is normal.  So do you think it is worth attempting another file upload/overlay?

Also, there are no upgrade log entries between 4.9.5 and 5.2.2.

Should I have taken a different upgrade path?  I started at 4.8.3, went to 4.9.5 (where everything seemed to test out fine but I didn't test in depth), then jumped to 5.2.2.  Should I have gone from 4.9.5 to 5.0.0 before making the leap to 5.2.2?

Thanks so much for your help.

Troy

Troy,

upgrading from DNN 4.8 to 4.9.5 and from there directly to 5.2.2 is the recommended way.

however, if you encounter a problem during the upgrade, restore 4.9.5 files and database, stop the site, upload all files from DNN upgrade package again  and start the site. there needs to be at least empty log files for each version.

Ok.  Restoring to 4.8.3 (I didn't get a backup of 4.9.5).  I will then apply the 4.9.5 upgrade and test thoroughly.  If it tests out I will manually backup and then apply the 5.2.2 upgrade.  I will report back here on my findings.  Thanks Sebastian.
