I'm with Bryan on the overwriting of the portals folder question. I cannot find any documentation on this. I have a portal 0 (that contains a dev site) along with the default portal. All the upgrade instructions say to extract the zip file and copy the contents over your existing files. Part of the contents in the zip is a portals folder that -- if copied over -- will nuke my portal 0. Same goes for my DesktopModules folder and whatever else. Can someone please explain what you mean by "just copy over the contents of the zip folder"? Do I have to go file by file and folder by folder? David

If you look at the INSTALL or UPGRADE packages you will see in the PORTALS/ folder there is only a _DEFAULT folder, not a 0, 1, 2, 3, etc so you won't overwrite the 0 folder's contents when you copy/paste from the package.

The same thing goes for DesktopModules folder.

Thanks, Chris. You're right -- but I can see how other people would have the same question. I think the confusion (at least for me) was when I selected all the folders/files in the zip file and dragged them over to the root of my DNN install Windows alarmed me that some folders/files already existed and asked if I wanted to "overwrite" with the new folders/files. I knew that would be OK for the files at the root, but was concerned about the "portals" and "desktopmodules" folders. After your advice, I selected "overwrite existing? Yes to all" and as you specified it worked -- MY stuff is still there. Thanks again! David

No problem David, it's a common concern for people that don't realize it isn't a danger. Though, that does highlight the danger of what we call Core Changes. People that go in and start modifying the core files within DNN run the risk of losing those changes in an upgrade without careful consideration and prep.
