I suppose it's all about how much control is made available through the CMS, whether it's just the content or the entire site that is open to editing.

As always it's a project by project criteria that changes depending on the spec of the project.

I would suggest snapsis nav menu and set it not show host and admin - the rest is all straight CSS.

I agree that the host and admin should be removed from the navigation (I always set it not to show anyway), including them as a control panel links was a great idea.
