Hi,

My DNN site has very simple menu requirements - just 4 links one one level!  (I don't want any breadcrumbs, sub menus, menu effects etc). This can be expressed as 4 <A> tags in a single row HTML table.  Can you please advise how I can :

1.  Remove the standard DNN menu

2.  Implement my few lines of html as the menu for my site.

Many thanks,

Steve

Hard coding the mneu will mean you have to adjust the skin every time you change the menu.

You could have a look at the links skin object, it will generate a more simple list of links.

I have very simple requirements and do not require reuse to be built in.  I would assume then that it is not a simple change to implement a minimal html menu.  Could you please point to any material on how to change the DNN Nav menu?  I can then look at stripping that down to my minimal requirement.

Steve,

If this is going to be few lines of HTML code, you could always open up the .ascx file for the template, remove the code for the menu and replace this with your own HTML. You will need to add any additional CSS to the CSS file for the skin.

This will cover your requirements below by removing the dynamic nav and allowing you to insert your own lines of code.

If you do go down this road, please remember to make a copy of the original .ascx file before you make any changes, just in case you decide to revert back to the original skin files.

Regards,

Rick.

I would not go down the static HTML path, since you will regret it in the future IMO, why you would use a CMS if the menu is static.

Anyway, I think the easiest would be to open the skin file.

and replace this

Please don't forget to delete the HTML skin file if you edit the ASCX skin file.

(or it will be overwritten if you "accidentally" parse the skin)
