I am being asked how many times a document on my site was viewed. The document was uploaded through the File Manager and there are two links to this document on my site, both of which are in HTML modules. Is there any way to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Do you have access to the IIS Log files for your site? Running a log parser on those files to generate stats would likely be the best way to see how many times a particular file was accessed. If you don't have that kind of access you might be able to get data from the LinkClick tracking, assuming tracking was turned on for the files when the links were created, I don't believe this happens by default. There also isn't a good reporting mechanism built into DNN that I know of for reporting on linkclick used for files. If the data is being recorded you could probably use the Reports module to generate the data you're looking for.

URLTracking will count access, if the links to the document are using LinkClick.aspx web handler and during insertion of the document link, "Track clicks" has been checked in URL control. you may create a custom report in SQL module or Reports module to query the tracking table.

Thanks Chris and Sebastian! I put the document in the Documents module and checked the tracking option and from that point on I can track the number of hits the document get.
