I'm presently attempting to install the latest version of DNN using it's web installer. I Have two other installs of DNN. I used the plesk install method for them. However, I keep getting SQL errors when I try to install certain modules. So, I wanted to try to the DNN web installer to see if it was the plesk installed DNN applications that were having an issue.

During the use of the DNN web installer, I have run into a problem when it comes to identifying the SQL server's administrator name and password. I can access the DB by using the "windows authentication" method in MS SQL server management studio. I can only assume this is the user name and password I use to login to the windows 2003 server.

Is there another way or better way to setup a database so that I can easily attach the DB to the DNN install? Maybe this is the why I'm having issues with the existing issues with other modules?

Thanks

The windows authentication method uses the account that the IIS website is setup to run as. Normally that would be Network Service on Windows 2003. With plesk however that might be a different user. Are you trying to install DNN 5.2.3? You might try using the new 5.3.1 as I believe a problem with modules and SQL was resolved that was fairly rare, but could cause modules to not install properly due to SQL timeouts

Hi Chris and thank you for that information. If 5.3.1 is the version that is linked to the community icon install link on the DNN website. That is probably the one I was trying to install. The install was going smoothly until I got to the SQL page. I'm thinking my issue is with authentication, but I'm not sure what to do next or where to look. If plesk is involved, where would I find the authentication credentials? The only one I know about is the windows administrative password and user name.

I think I'm getting somewhere. I added a new Database user in plesk 9. I finally get past the DB settings screen only to get an install fail error. It states " an error ocured in the execution of the database script...

Does this sound familiar?
