i am using windows 7 professional edition.i  have installed visual studio 2008 and sql server 2005.i did change in the ConnectionString in webconfig file.i am using DotNetNuke Community Version 5.03.01. And i also set the permission for particular Floder (Everone,Network).And i created the Sample database then it showing the following error.

Error:

 Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

The error message is telling you that you need to turn the folder you created into an Application in IIS. Load up IIS Manager, right click on the folder and choose Application. You will likely also want to change the application pool's identity from AppIdentity to Network Service

I received essentially the same error when I upgraded a dnn to 5.3.1. I do not have access to the IIS since I am using a hosting service. Do you have any specific suggestions I could make to my hosting support?

Is the folder the webroot folder or is there another in the hierarchy?

By the way, I was able to install a clean 5.2 portal without the error. It is only when I attempt to upgrade an older version. Do I need to upgrade to an intermediate 4.? version before going to 5.2 or 5.3?
