 Im in the process of migrating to a new server win 2003 R2 (64)  IIS7 

change the web.config to point to the new database made sure the portal alias was set for the new machine - But if I try to run the the site all I get is a 404 error

file or directory not found they are obviously there..  

wasted 4 hours trying to figure out what is going one .. can anyone please help

My hunch is that something is not setup correctly with IIS, but without actually debugging its difficult to back that up.   Try adding an image to your directory and see if it is served.  If it is served then the problem is within your DNN installation.  If it is not served then more then likely IIS is not hosting the site correctly.  Double check that the app pool was running and the site was not disabled for any reason.

Found the Issue - The problem was the II7 config Webservice Extensions did not have ASP .NET as an extension .
