Hello,

I have been tasked to create a skin from an already exsiting "look and feel" photoshop comp. Is there a way to take those graphics, utilize DNN's documents and files create the skin in Dreamweaver and bring back to DNN?

I ask as I am VERY familiar with Dreamweaver and not so much with DNN. I see that Dreamweaver has options for ASP.NET

Anyone experiment with any of this? Thanks!

Trisha

A skin can be created as an HTML or ASCX file. So use the tool that you are more familiar with. In this case Dreamweaver is also my choice alongside fireworks. Download the documentation zip from the version you will work on and read the Skinning Guide for more in depth information.

Thanks! That is what I thought but being new to this...I did not want to invest time only to do this incorrectly.

So, do you just cut up the graphics in Fireworks as you would for a normal HTML web site, then save the HTML file? If so, what do you do about the path that is created in Dreamweaver for the images, when you transfer your HTML file to DNN?

I looked through my DNN documentation and it was a bit light on using WYSIWYG editors.

Thanks again,

Trisha

What's really important is to understand that for certain DNN functionality you need to add tokens into your HTML skin that will produce the skinobjects. Those concepts are well explained in the skinning document.

WYSIWYG is simply a tool and the output is HTML. Just keep in mind that Dreamweaver uses it's own libraries and js to create certain behaviors.

The info in the Skinning document should be enough to create a skin, but if you need more info DNNCreative has a lot of resources for skinning as well as Nina's site and I am available if you need more in depth personal consulting.
