At this time, I cannot say that the problem is resovled, but I went around the problem by uninstalling the whole DNN application and reinstalled it with the new version. Fortunately, it is a fairly small site and most of the pages were old info anyway so I really only had to rebuild about 10 pages. The only idea that I could assess is that possibly, since I was going for DNN 4 to DNN 5+ that maybe there was a problem with the upgrade. That may not be the problem, but to avoid anymore time with the site being down, I found it easier and quicker just to start over.

Thanks for all your help, Jeff...

I don't want to knock DNN, but I find it very hard to work with... I work with Wordpress as well and as a CMS I can honestly say that I have never had these issues ever. Upgrading is very very easy - I have only encountered one error before in the 100's of sites I have dealt with. I get errors consistently with DNN - whether it is related to upgrades, new installs, modules issues - even the fact you can export portals from one instance to another...

DNN Team: Any thoughts on how DNN will progress in the future... version 6? What about a road map for where this software is heading.

I've run into my share of glitches like this one, but this is the first one that I have resorted to starting over. I am also, at best, a novice, so I am more likely to get jammed up in these situations than you guys since I am not a web designer, and the sites that I have done don't look that great but serve the purpose.

So that being said, I do thank all of you very much for your help and guidance through the issues I get in to.

 Thanks again, Jeff..

I still have upgrade problems... but wanted to say that starting from scratch DNN install from the ground up was very easy to do...

You are right, I spent about 1.5 hours to start over and spent two days trying to figure out what was wrong with the previous install. Fortunately, I only had to do about 8 or 10 pages and Google cache had them if I needed them, so that was a backup behind my backup files that I had saved,
