I just went to install this. I run many DotNetNuke versions, and successfully install a fresh installation of 5.2.2 in exactly the same location as 5.4.  However, on a fresh installation of 5.4 I get this error on  a later stage of the installer.  I got an error before this one which redisplayed the form with an error message. When you submit the form again you get this error.

Violation of UNIQUE KEY constraint 'IX_PortalAlias'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.PortalAlias'

There is no way out of this, and if you then request your site it works but there is no content.

I've been using DotNetNuke for years and years and host many sites - this is the software not me. Back to a previous version I go....

:-(

it looks like there are two identical portal aliases being added - but I have no clue why this happens to you...

Well I recycled the web app, deleted the files and pasted 5.2.2 files in it's place and everything worked fine. Maybe there is some pre-requisite that 5.4 needs that 5.2.2 doesn't? But if not all fingers point to the DotNetNuke installer...

Would you happen to have a screenshot or the text of the form and error message? We've had the "Violation of UNIQUE KEY constraint 'IX_PortalAlias" error reported before but when someone tried to add a portal with the exact same name as an existing portal DNN-10966.
