Hi All.

This evening i recognized a strange behaviour with the forum here which i did not have this afternoon.

1) Every second time i go to Forum Home only the Aggregated Forum will be shown, none of the other sections. Most of the time after refreshing twice the list of forums will come up.
2) On some threads or when clicking on reply in a thread i receive an Access Denied message, telling me that i'm either not logged in (what i am) or that i do not have enough rights to see this content.  ??????
3) A "normal" reply is not possible this evening, when clicking on submit, a small "i am working bar" can be seen but then nothing else happens. My reply won't be saved. Only a quick reply is possible.

I tested this with IE8 and Firefox, does not matter.

Is there anybody out there who can confirm this?

Thanks

Kai

YES!! It is my first time on the forums and it is driving me nuts. Here is an email I sent to the webmaster and marketing: I have a client who wants to use DNN. So I registered with you, downloaded the Community version, installed it, and tried to run it, but got an error. So, I went to your forums to search for an answer. From what I can see, your forums are full of errors such as: The button to create a new post only shows once in a great while. Also, if I click on "All Forums", 1/2 the time I am greeted with "Your search return no results." What? I did not search for anything. Other times, when I login, I am greeted with the message: "You do not have permissions to view this portal" My God! What is wrong with your site? And you want my client to spend $2000 to buy your product which I assume you are using yourself to run this malfunctioning web site I have wasted over 2 hours on? What is wrong here?

Kai, there seem to be some caching errors which are specific to this site only (according to the administrator). In fact, I haven't seen it on any other side, regardless of the technology, it is using. rrhandle, I am known to visit the forums frequently. there are known issues, but I haven't noticed issues combined like this. A new version has been installed a few days ago and some issues need to be ironed out. usually I prefer this being done on this site than on mine ;)

I'm willing to answer with Yes and No at the same time.

Yes, i also prefer to have "issues" occuring on another site then mine, but on the other hand for potential customers like rrhandle it might be a red flag or at least not looking very promising.

@rrhandle: please be aware that the community edition is for free and the support here over the forum is as well. And from my experience, i'm with dnn since a couple of years now, the support can be named as pretty good. It is for free.
So if you buy the pro or even the enterprise edition you will receive even better or 3rd-level support, which might be even faster and more "sophisticated".

As far as i know dotnetnuke.com is not exactly running the version we can download and especially the forum is a fragile candidate, as it has grown in the past and the module itself is.....hm, let's call it beta to gamma-state.

@DNN-Corp: i think we all out there in the world to not understand every time why there are new issues when fixing others. Sometimes it looks like that dotnetnuke.com is the biggest beta-test in the world (behind all microsoft products at all ;-) ).

You are right, the forum could drive you mad from time to time but it seams that you joined just at the wrong time. The last time i saw problems like this is almost  a year ago! I would call it "dumb coincidence".

Finally i'm pretty sure and convinced that your customer is not going the wrong way with DNN.

I'm only a normal user, not a hardcore programmer or connected to dnn-corp in any manner. The bottom line is, that i'm satisifed with DNN. And the system could only get better with the help of the community.

Cheers

Kai
