I installed DNN on my laptop running IIS 7.5 on Win 7 Pro and SQL Express 2008.  When I try to run DNN on localhost I get the following error:

XML Parsing Error: no element found
Location: http://localhost/Register.aspx?ReturnUrl=http%3a%2f%2flocalhost%2fHome.aspx
Line Number 1, Column 1:

A little research tells me that this is usually because DNN or SQL is set up for Windows Authentication but not SQL authentication and it needs to be set up to both.  Perhaps I'm missing it but I have yet to find a post that tells me how to fix it.  Do I need to do something with "web.config"? If so, what?  Do I have to do something with the SQL Server Management Studio?  If so, what?  Do I have to look somewhere else to fix it?  Any help will be appreciated.

I believe this may be caused by IIS mis-configuration.
Go Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features
Click "Turn Windows Features On or Off"
Under "World Wide Web Services" expand "Application Development Features"
Make certain you have the following checked:
.Net Extensibility
ASP.NET

As for the SQL question, if you have not changed the SQL connection strings in your web.config then SQL, Express and Server, can be left at "Windows Authentication".
If you are using a database specific log in for SQL then you will need to change SQL Authentication to "Mixed Mode"...
