Having a problem adding a page to a new portal.
Basically the permission are defaulting to View/Edit locked for All Users when creating a new page. I'd expect the "Administrator" role to have this setting.
In the DB table TabPermissions, the permission are set for roles "-1".
This happens for each new page created.
Any ideas what needs to be done to fix this?

Hello Colm,

Greetings from Clane,

I am looking at my own tabs and tab permissions tables to try to see if there is anything that rings a bell.

Can I ask some questions like
Is Portal 0 workinging ok but a second portal is not working correctly?
Can you edit previous pages that did work?

FYI, on a system that I have made quite some changes to over the last year, I get 7 records from the following sql

SELECT * FROM dbo.Tabs WHERE tabid IN (SELECT tabid FROM dbo.TabPermission WHERE RoleID = -1)

But these pages work ok for me.

Is there any other info you can give that I can check here?

I have version 5.4.2 here but can check a few other versions also if you like,

BTW, Do you use SQL Compare / SQL Data Compare to update live sites?  I do, but I fear that it might corrupt the system.

Good Luck,

Mark

Hi Mark

Seems to be an issue when adding a new portal. Existing portals are fine. I check the portal table and it hasn't correctly filled the administrator ID, administration role id  and the Registered User ID for the new portal. It's happening when I create a Portal using the Dotnetnuke template that came with the upgrade package which I guess should be fine for creating a new portal. Might be an incompatibility caused by the upgrade path of the site as it was originally a 4.x site. Dunno. Life's too short! Might try templating one of the other portals an try it.

Hello Colm,

Ohh, sorry to hear that, if you figure it out, let us know, that would drive me crazy, but as you say, life is short and there are already thousands of things like that to trip us up.

take care,

Mark

Well, partial success...Fixing the portal record and the consequential problems in TabPermissions has fixed it. However still happens again when creating a new portal. Guess there is something messed up in there. Probably one or more of the sp's are out of date.
