Hi

We have developed a site for our customers on our own development server with Catalook and all went well, with only one big issue which was speed.

dev.mro-info.com

Initially we thought the issue was Catalook and after a lot of optimization checks we could not find anything wrong with catalook. See the post here:

http://www.dnnsoft.com/Supportbrnbspn...

I think I have realized what the issue is! I think it was last night around 3 am in my sleep dreaming about the previous day’s events, that I realized that the only thing I never tested from the beginning was to switch off Friendly URL in Host/Host Settings. We built the portal on 5.3.1 and we always had Friendly URL ON.

So all I did was to switch off the Friendly URL and it seems that the experience has improved substantially.

We have this site now on two servers

1- http://dev.mro-info.com/ with Friendly URL on and another at http://test.mro-info.com/ with Friendly URL off.

The performance is painful with it on and acceptable with it off.

I saw Joe's post on this issue and I have also noticed Page Blaster is highly recommended.

So I will try that as well next week. I just wondered if anyone has tried Page Blaster with Catalook?

Salar

Maybe you should also try using UrlMaster from www.infinity.com.au, whether it does url rewriting faster than the core component.

PageBlaster works with most things - if not their support is really good... highly recommended on all sites!

PS - that is a MASSIVE difference in speed on those two sites... btw - have you tried making a new user on the live site? My upgrade to 5.4.2 failed due to performance reasons and my test site was fine too...

Thank you @Sebastian, @Rodney I will have a chat with my customer to see if he is willing to try out page blaster. I am generally not so inclined to wire up methods that are going to compete with core. I tried http://www.ifinity.com.au/Products/Url_Master_DNN_SEO_Urls and their site was down right now. which is not a good sign However, since pageblaster is from a great developer with fantastic track record, I am inclined to give it a go.  Don't worry - Ifinity is a very solid company with good support - I have dealt with them for the last 2 years or so and they are very responsive and on the ball (as for competing products - that's personal choice - UM has a lot more features than the core but it depends on your needs).

I'm keen to see the speed difference in those 2 sites!
