Maybe you should also try using UrlMaster from www.infinity.com.au, whether it does url rewriting faster than the core component.

iFinity site came up and I did have a good read.

Generally, their own site is still to slow on first load. after that, some pages take way too long to load some pages take 10 seconds after click and some are ok at about 4 sec after click.

However, according to the Bruce Chapman Blog here it is faster by about 40% compared with Default DNN Friendly URL

The problem is that in the case of test.mro-info.com still does not cut it. I am after much more improvements.

As an example here is a site that My daughter did for her final year University project http://teencancercircle.com/ which is a charity site with social networking angle done in WordPress. She is using my couple of years old basic virtual server from 1and1 which is not particularly fast. Yet the speed is amazing.

Other competing technologies like Magneto also behave much faster yet with perfect URL rewriter technology.
http://www.gievesandhawkes.com
http://www.thomasdeanco.com

which are examples of other platforms we need to compete with.

Anyhow, I will let you know if PageBlaster is going to save the day for us

I have browsed your website with Fiddler to trace http requests (http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/). The server processing time is around 2 seconds, then the browser is processing / rendering the response for another 2-3 seconds.

I think there is place to improvement on both sides (client and server) and the client side is most likely not related to using DNN vs any other platform.

YSlow is really helpful for client side optimizations / investigation. YSlow reports a grade F for number of DOM Elements on product pages. "There are 4696 DOM elements on the page".

The site seems to have the same performance on IE and FF, which can be often used to detect too much script processing (as the IE script engine is much slower than FF). Doesn't seem related to script processing on the client.

You have some 404 errors on http://test.mro-info.com/DesktopModules/CATALooKStore/Skins/MroInfo/js/mojozoom.js, as well as a few script errors which you may want to look into.

As for friendly Url, I would also recommend iFinity which is a great and reliable company.

Good luck....

 Thank you Etienne

I will have a good look on Monday, I did since then installed the community edition of Page Blaster, and I have found some performance enhancements.

I will advise my client to take the professional version on Monday.

Generally the large number of categories are probably responsible for  slower than usual performance from this instance of DNN 5.4.2 than others we host.

We are using Telerik which suppose to be the fastest for rendering the menu. But there may be some area we can also improve on.
