Hi jdc,

My first thought on reading your post is Dam!!!..I've just upgraded some of my live sites to DNN544, in the hope the .net4 was a workaround!!!...The fix I proposed for the CPU usage was based on the thoery that the micorsoft .net mail handler had a known error.

I also traced an unconfirmed report that this bug was fixed in .net4.0...maybe not??   However, if it was fixed, then the fact the .Net4 doesn;t work, kind of blows my theory on the maxidletime out of the water!!

The code fix I proposed needs a recompile of the DotNetNuke.dll.  Something I think Chad has done and is testing...I think the next step from here is to see if the recompiled DNN dll works for Chad.

On the test SMTP email from DNN I've just tried that on my upgraded site and it seems to be working without any issues.  I've not checked the test email message though....I'll give that a try tomorrow and let you know if I find any problems.

Regards,
Dave.

I have created a thread here:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/F...

concerning the 5.5 BETA - this new beta release seems to have something changed that fixes this issue. Can anyone confirm these findings?
