Thanks sticcino,

I've deleted just the site not the database but the recycle bin is for pages under the site.

There is no recycle bin for sites under host menu.

Johnny's right. Once deleted, you cannot restore a portal.

as far as I can see, there is no bug - it is up to you to be careful, not to delete your portal and - of course - you should do a backup at least once a day of the installation directory and the database.
