Dear Sebastian,

it seems that you haven't read my post.

I, not accidentally deleted another site with almost the same name ( about 50 chars ) and the DNN deleted my good one.

If that is NOT a bug, what is?

AFAIK portals are identified internally by ID not by name (or a hash of names), so IMHO it is not likely, that the wrong portal was selected by the system - the code only deletes the portal, which settings are currently displayed.

Assuming that, if you have 2 sites with same ( except 3 or 4 chars = "???" ) name, could that be done?

there is a difference between computers and human beings: while we are recognizing similarities of structures, computers are comparing very exactly. So there is only one scenario, where computers cannot decide two strings (using binary compare): if strings start the same and only a substring of same or less length is used for comparison. But after a look into the DNN code, I could not find a routine like this.
