Hi their,

I have previously modified the events module to increase the CustomField from 2 to 12 and added a new page called Suggest.aspx which allowed anonymous users to submit/suggest events without log-in by utilizing a dummy user impersonator and turning on the moderate new events.

Now that I have upgraded the dotnetnuke, and also upgraded the events module, the custom functionality is gone, the additional custom fields columns are there in the database columns but not the custom functionality.

I just thought to suggest this topic, even though I would have to redo my work.

In the future, would the events module have the custom fields that can be dynamically maintained? Rather than just a manual build module work to add or remove custom fields. More like it will have it's own table like location and the resource file will also needs to be dynamic or support a resource file based on each calendar?

Another thought is that to allow the suggestion of events which are either moderated or not moderated. I understand that the functionality is there for registered users but what about non registered users?

Usually the non-profit organizations are run by volunteers and they do not have lot of resources to dedicated towards gathering events details in the community. It would be greatly helpful to have such a functionality.

Thanks,
Wasay

If you hve modified the source & database for Events yourself, but upgrade to the standard newversion of Events, it is not unlikely that yoyr wn changes are gone. That's the way upgrade of contained modules work.

Moderation is only possible if users (who do moderation) are registered on the site, so they can be part of a security group who can d the moderation. For adding new events, it is the best security structure that only registered users can add (propose) Events, otherwise you might end up with a lot of spam/bogus entries.Registration on a DNN site is set up by the webadmin, and could only be a one-time activity, so the needed resources in man-power to do this is very limited.
