Thanks for the info Roger. I would be comfortable doing this in SQL but I thought that was frowned upon.

So to confirm, an EventsRecurMaster record must be created (even if it is not a recurring event?) and then an Events record. Is that correct?

I will be glad to take a crack at doing this directly through SQL where I can create a stored procedure. Then I can manage future changes to the tables in the stored procedure. I had some trouble adding a module to a page this way, but I suppose that is a bit more complex.

Hi Mark,

Yep - EventsRecurMaster before Events. If you use ths sprocs that come with the module to do the actual DB manipulation it should encourage you to pass all the correct data.

We have tried to build integrrity into the database, so that if anyone enters data not via the module code, it will deal with it. That said there are fields which the DB will not validate for correct format, e.g. RRULE and Duration on EventsRecurMaster, and you would need to validate that your SQL is in line with the module when we do upgrades, because we won't be adding validation in the upgrade procedures for non-standard data manipulation methods.

Cheers
Roger
