In the Modules Settings there is a warning that reads:

This module has indicated a recommendation to disable caching (select NONE from the Output Cache Provider list above). Enabling caching on this module is not recommended and may cause the module to display stale data.

But I'm unable to change Output Cache Provider to anything other than "File".  Out beside the Combo Box is the word "inherited".

How is this supposed to be set and where do I do it?

This is DNN core functionality and not set by the Events module. Please have a look at the admin forum

Was the link supposed to take me to a particular form post or just point me to the correct forum?  I've tried searching for "Output Cache Provider" and "inherited" and I can't seem to find anything.

Should I be concerned with this warning or just ignore it?  If this Cache Duration is set to zero, will that be OK?

It was a link to the forum, not a specific post.
I do not know if there is any info there, but you can certainly post your question there.
Setting cache duration to 0 is fine (means no cache which is always safe).
