I am running a 5.2.1 site on PowerDNN.  It was built last year using Minimal Extropy out of the box. I have just uploaded Dr Nuke's Catalyst2 with Easy Mod.  Among other things I wanted the additional panes available in the layout.  Before I manually go to each page (50+)  and change them one at a time, I am wondering if anyone knows a better way.  Although incomplete, here's an example of my problem.

MinExtrop                       Cat2
Content Pane                Content Pane 3
Left Pane                        Left Pane 3

There are three other MinExtop panes and one or more may have to be migrated too, but if there is something I can do in MinExtrop before I migrate, or in Cat2, right after I do, that would let me map the old pane assigment to the new one for each module on each page, that will save me and a colleague HOURS of work we could better spend on other content upgrades.  Is there a way to simply "rename" the MinExtrop Content Pane to Content Pane3, so that after the Cat2 skin is applied the site  will put the module(s) in the right place?  Ditto for Left Pane?

Any thoughts?

you may simply modify the new skin and rename the pane ids.

The name of the Pane (when you're editing the content through the CMS) is controlled by it's ID within the .ascx skin file. To change the name of the ID go into the skinname.ascx file for the skin pack (where skinname is the name of the skin) and change the ID there (The location of the skin files can be found by looking at the source code and working back through the directory location for the skin.css file). This should then reflect in the template as you view it through the CMS.

When you're making changes to files though, always work with a copy backed up, and when making changes to pane ID's remember that there has to be a ContentPane in each skin for it to work.

Hope this helps.

Rick.
