Hi everybody. I have worked with DNN for the last 18 months and build websites based on DNN. Now, I have some problems with it.

Decentralization feature of DNN may be well understood to you all. This function is clearly useful and intelligent when DNN can decentralize to each page and module…but it makes me surprised a lot when it doesn’t on many Portal. Here, I put 2 problems: I have 2 accounts named A & B. A module is used for both portal 1 & 2. It is my intention to apply both Account A & B to log in into the both portals. With Account A,  I can just only  view module of Portal 1 but I can even edit modules in Portal 2. And vice versa with Acc. B in which I can only view module of Portal 2 but I can even edit modules in Portal 1.

It seems to me that with this problem, currently, DNN cann’t to create such User account and Decentralization feature. If not, I wonder whether DNNN can be considered as Portal?

I am trying to find the answer to this problem. I have viewed the website http://www.dnnmasters.com/dnnmasters-.... I am not sure whether this website can give me a possible answer to my problem. My concern is in what way, when I create a Role in Portal 1, this role also appears in Portal 2?  And so, I suggest it is necessary for  Host to be equipped with the ability to create Role and assign Role possible to be applied in all (or just some) portals. Similarly, Portal with Role function should be in a default configuration so that when users log in, they will assigned with this Role. From that, it is possible for users to log in into all Portals and have this right. Now, usually, only Admin can create Role and I think this is really a limitation of DNN.

Please send me your ideas. Thank you so much for your concerns!

any user can be registered into multiple portals using same username, password and email address. User provide will be portal specific, however, same applies to role assignment, i.e. a user can get view permissions on one portal and with editor role associated for another one. If you want to access content between multiple sites, you will need either use RSS or custom modules, which are able to share content.
