Hello,

I succsessfully installed the Feedback Module. Everything looks fine, but as soon as I try to send an Email and hit the 'send' button, I get the message

"Your feedback could not be sent to some or all of the intended recipients, please try again later: There is a problem with the configuration of your SMPT server. Mail was not send."

As it does not tell me what kind of problem I am facing, I am a bit helpless right now... Anybody any ideas what the exact problem could be? The Email address itself works fine, if I just send an Email from another Email address.

Thanks...

Please check the SMTP Server Settings after navigating to Host-->Host Settings. In particular verify that the SMTP Server and Port information matches that which your hosting provider has given you. Most shared hosting providers require SMTP Authentication to be set to basic and the SMTP Username and passward set to those of a valid email address in the same domain as the site's. Most hosting providers do not permit email relay - that is using a SMTP server other than their own or sending email from an email address with a domain other than that of the website.

You can test your SMTP server settings by either sending a test "newsletter" after navigating to Admin-->Newsletters or by testing if notification emails are properly sent and received when a new user registers or an existing user has a password or security role change.

As for the Feedback module, it is often necessary (because of the restriction on email relay) to set the FROM field in the module settings to a valid email address within the same domain as the website. In that case, the feedback email will be sent using the FROM address rather than that specified by the visitor or user submitting the feedback form. The actual email address entered in the form by the submitter of the feedback will be available to you in the body of the feedback email or in the ReplyTo email header.

So I set up everything with the main e mail address that was given to me from our hosting provider, but I still get the same error report. Is there anything else that could be wrong....?

PS.: I was not able to check or set up the port information... the only 'port' i could find was the proxy port, that says '-1' ....
