I am trying to install DNN on Vista running IIS7.0.  I finally got the site to come up, but when I try to login with the Super user account I set up during installation, the site just hangs.  I type in username and  password, then green progress bar at the bottom goes to about 50% then has been stuck there for what feels like hours (OK at least 5 minutes now).

I also tried following the installation webinar, and they talked about adding permissions to the "IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool" user to the "inetpub\dotnetnuke\" directory.  I tried to do this, but windows could not find this user.  Could this have something to do with it?  Maybe I don't have to do this step?  In the webinar, he says to do it for IIS 7.5, since I am using IIS 7.0 maybe I don't have to do this?  But shouldn't this user exist?

Any help - Any One?

Dave

please be aware, that the appPoolUser has been added in IIS 7.5, while IIS 7 still uses Network Service by default. Make sure to grant full file system permissions for this account (or whatever account is specified in IIS App Pool settings).

Thanks

I figured out my problem I think.  Actually I installed DNN a few weeks ago and have been struggling very much.  Everything sort of worked, but not very well.  I found restarting my computer helped, but I had to constantly restart it, and it kept hanging up on the DNN web pages.

I saw a post from someone else about a problem with AVG anti-virus software.  So i un-installed AVG and installed MS Essentials as suggested in the other post - and wow - what a difference.  Everything is working much better - no more hang ups.

I wish I knew about this problem a few weeks ago - but better late than never.

Beware of AVG and DNN!

Dave
