We have two servers at work, a development and production server.
On the production server, DNN is not even installed. Everything is on the development server.
My website now needs to be hosted on the production server.
What's the best (or only) way to achieve that?

Must I install a seperate version of DNN on the production server and copy only the website-specific files into it?
Or do I just copy everything that's on the development server to the production server and configure it in the right way?

check out the pinned post in installation forum, how to copy/move a site: In short: you need to transfer all files and database, adjust database connection strings in web.config and portal alias.

Thank you, I've read the blog post mentioned in the topic. One thing I dont'understand is why I need to create a new HTTP-alias in the development website. The explanaition given is not clear enough to me. What makes the new HTTP-alias different from the existing one? Do I have to use it somewhere else in the configuration?

Thanks in advance!

DNN is a multiportal system, the portal alias is needed to forward all calls to the proper web site. there is no change needed, if the domain address doesn't change during the move, but e.g. if switching from localhost to www.mydomain.com
