We are trying to do the installation on a Virtual Machine for several days...and having problems.

We tried it many times, sometimes starting fresh from scratch - following all the instructions listed in the documentation. I posted here before - thanks to all who answered, with no result.

Our company is using the older version of the DotNetNuke with no problem. Thats why we are surprised, whats going wrong.

The only difference is, this time - we are trying to put it on a Virtual Server. I believe, that should not be a problem - because its a well established technology.
Is that correct?

Virtual machines aren't a problem (my company uses one for our live and dev websites). It would help if you put the problems you were running into, the errors and what you have tried. Without knowing what's wrong it's awful hard to help fix things.

Hi I hope this post of mine makes things allot easier for you. on your virtual machine go to http://www.microsoft.com/web/gallery/install.aspx install this application, it will allow you to install many programs at the click of a button including dotnetnuke. Hopefully this will resolve your issue installing on a virtual machine.

Most of our efforts ended into Access is Denied due to invalid credential error, or some other security related error. When we tried everything to get past that.
Our OS is Windows Server 2003, so we had Network Service full control, we even tried everybody having full control with same result. We did configure the IIS, the web.config according to the instructions.

We then tried Microsoft's Web PI available on DotNetNuke website to auto install - with same result. 
It did not go the 2nd step. After providing info in the first dialog box (Step 1), it said - successfully installed.

Also, our database is located on a different server. And as I mentioned, it (the web PI installation) did not go to any database stuff. So obviously it wasn't working right.

I think thats all the information you guys needed.

Please list the "older version of DotNetNuke" you are using and also the explicit error message you are receiving.
We use VM's exclusively for Development and Testing inside DNN and we are able to always install without issues.
