I want to provide links to other websites that enable their visitors to click the link and automatically log into my site. I would create a role for each site that has a link and users from that site would login under that sites role. 

How would I go about doing that?

You are much better off writing a web-service to handle this. Sending a query-string is very insecure. Michael Washington has a good 'starter' on this with his iWeb.
