Hello Everybody,
i am new to dotnetnuke, i was recently creating a website for one of my client, the website has been created in Dotnetnuke, in the website i have the below features,
1. Blog,
2. Forum.
3. Cross Article (Implemented the free version 5.3)
now the requirement of the client, is he want the search feature for  all of the above stated module in a single search. as i am new i checked througout the DNN for the search feature, so that i can implement everything in a single search, but in vain, i got the search option for every individual module, but i want a single search to be implemented.

can anyone please help me how to do this. or is there any of the module available which can be implemented for searching all the above modules at a time.

if all modules support Searchable interface (see details in module definitions), you may use portal search to provide search across all content. You need to enable indexing scheduler job and place a search skin object in the skin or SearchInput module on all pages. Besides you need a single hidden (!!!) page with search results module on it.

Hello Sebastian,
i went through your post, and done as you said, and again when i tried to search it displays no records. can you please check the steps i done, and if they are wrong can you please direct me with the steps.

as you said enabling scheduler, i did the following step to enable schedular.
1. After logging in as host i clicked on host menu ---> Schedule ---> clicked on the Pen button near search schedule for editting the search schedular, and there i checked Schedular Enabled and Catch Up Enable, and clicked on Run Now Button. to run schedular on Server...
2. then i added a page and added search results and search input on the same page and then i tried to search with the keyword which is in one of the article, but it says no result....

are the steps right, if not then can you direct me how to enable scheduler, and what to do later, and if the steps are right then can you tell me what else can be done.... or do i need to download some search module to implement everything in a single search.....

Thanks and regards

do not enable catch up for the search indexer job, this will result in numerous extra runs, which are not needed and slow down your site. Please clear the search tables (see here: http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/134/Default.aspx) and re-index the site. check the search tables to be populated properly. next query your site, ideally using the search input on a different page than search results, and make sure, there is only one instance per portal of this module on any page, including the recycle bin.
