Looks like this is my problem also! I confirmed the problem multiple times, disabled Surf Shield and it works every time. I'm using AVG Free 2011. I'm thinking of adding localhost to the list of trusted sites. Think that would help?

Adding localhost to the list of trusted sites doesn't help. I too am having this issue and it keeps me from developing anything locally.

I turned off AVG completely, no luck. I have tried watching Profiler (nothing odd there), looking at perfmon (don't see anything either) and waving a chicken foot over the PC. That got a response from my cat but that's about it.

Any other ideas? The laptop has gobs of memory, is a quad-4 and nothing else is running.

Whenever I click on a menu item, it takes a consistent 14 seconds to load an empty page. I changed the caching, but no luck there. I really don't think this is DNN per se. I have two instances at PowerDNN and they are incredibly fast.

I notice that whenever I click a page, the CPU utilization jumps to about 25% but I can't seem to see what is using it. After 14 seconds, the CPU drops to 5% and the page appears.

Your issue looks like it restarts Application Pool on each menu click. Can you go to the "Admin/Event Log" and check. Do you have "Application Started" there? I mean is it at the same time you click on the menu?
