strange, are you sure, you selected database? Did you specify a buffer size in host settings without the flush buffer scheduler job enabled?

All the settings are as indicated in the initial post and below.  I have no idea what the "flush buffer task" is, how to tell if it's running, or how to start it if it's not running.  I looked in the processes pane of task manager and didn't see anything that looked related.  Under host/schedule, there are a few similar lines:

Purge Site Log (not checked); every 1 day; History is empty
Purge Log Buffer (checked); every 5 hours; History shows success=True; task duration is always less than 1/2 second.
Send Log Notifications (checked); every 30 minutes; History shows success=True; duration is always less than 10ms.

Running DNN 05.04.01 (26)
Host/Site Log Storage : Database (tried both)
Host/Site Log Buffer: 2000
Host/Site Log History: 120
Admin/Site Log History(Days): 10

I did notice that when the settings were "file system" instead of "database", there was data being recorded.  Is there an easy way to examine the contents of all those text files without writing my own application?

It's disappointing that every problem I post fails to get resolved.  We're moving new customers to Joomla and hopefully that experience will be better.
