I have run into a problem with my database with my Hosting Provider. They only allow my database to reach a specified size per instance. I would like to create a new database and transfer my custom module data to that database. My question is, how do I specify an alternate connection string. (one for the regular DNN Stuff and then one for my custom modules).

I found an old post and Erick Hinds (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F...) recommended what appeared to be a promising solution however, when I try his method,  the connection string still points to the main database.

I would advise you to upgrade your hosting plan so that you maintain the same database. That will give you less work over the time with updates, problem fixing etc. You can add a addition sql connection string to the web.config instead, but that will only work if you have a separate own custom type database. I would not recommend to span 2 dnn sites over 2 databases. This will certainly not work if that is what you ask.
