when you're performing actions such as that entries are added to the eventlog, so it's possible your eventlog has grown very large and is causing the issue. I'd recommend you try the truncate actions suggested in the wiki http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/tabid/1409/Page/Performance_best_practices/Default.aspx

Cathal, thanks for the reply. I have ran the SQL to truncate the logs and will see how that gets on. I have the Site Log Buffer set to 1and site log history set to 0, so there shouldn't be too much data in there (if I read things correct) However the hosting company did come back to me and say that the server I am on is at capacity and they do have other site that are system resource hungary. When these other sites are under load sites that run on DNN (or any database driven site) will suffer. They have said I should monitor my sites performance over the next week and if things do not inprove they will move me to an emptier server. Lets see how things get on.

Abernus, FYI the sitelog tables are used for the (optional) site logging requests in DotNetNuke i.e. what pages are visited, users etc. For most sites it's best to disable site logging, and use the google site analytics, as it gives you richer statistics and offloads some processing on your site. The log's I meant are the EventLog tables - the event log is where alerts are stored e.g. superuser logins, adding modules etc. They are many loggable (made up word?) events, which can be configured under the admin->event viewer menu. The eventlog automatically deletes older entries, but in some cases it's grown so large that the deletion query fails, and this is where it can then start affecting site performance (in later versions of dotnetnuke this query was amended to be more resilent), hence my advice to try truncating the eventlog. Hopefully it will help.

Thanks for the info. I have been reading about how to implement the google site analytics. However I have what may be a bumd question, how do I turn off the logging in DNN so it's all done by google?

Thanks
