Hi all,

I will get this part out of the way first I am with WH4L (not the best) but I am stuck there for another 6 months. I have 2 DNN sites hosted with them on different Domain Names. My first site was originally DNN 3.x that has been upgraded to the latest version ove the years. My new site is a fresh install of DNN 5.5.1, it's this site I am having problems with.

Both sites are on the same account the only main difference between them is the server that holds the database, hence I think this is where the issue lies. My original site loads fast and has 0 errors (I have Jinxed it now) but the new site is plagued with problems. The main problem I have is:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us

When I check the error logs I see the following:

1/6/2011 2:12:15 PM   General Exception       AssemblyVersion: 5.6.0; PortalID: -1; PortalName ...
AssemblyVersion: 5.6.0

Server Name: IIS08202

Then a few mins later I normally see this in the event viewer:

1/7/2011 2:26:38 AM   Application Started        ...
Server Name: IIS08201

1/7/2011 2:26:39 AM   Application Started        ...
Server Name: IIS08202

I have had no luck with the hosting company as of yet as I still get the error. It can occur at any time and with no input from me.

Please can anyone give me any ideas what is causing this

From my personal experience:

1. When an Out Of Memory happens the whole server become unstable and needs a reboot.

2. Clearly this is a hosting provider problem. Is this a shared plan ?

3. What you can try is to change the Host caching to DISK (if you have set to memory) and see if it gets better.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply, this is a shared hosting plan, can't aford dedicated.I have caching set to memory atm as I read somewhere that this is supposed to increase site performance. I will change it to disk and see what happens.

In your oppinion is it the database that is causing this, ie the server that holds the database running out of memory?

I'm not familiar with the godaddy hosting.

But i don't think it is the database. It is the server memory load. What you could seach is for hosting that gives you a dedicated app pool. You can find a good hoster with 10$ per month.

Also for me switching to DISK speeds my website a bit. I would expect the oposite but apparently that depends in the hoster.

I switched to DISK and this has helped speed the site up a little but not much, initial load still takes about 30 seconds. I have left the site alone for 1 day and had no problems. Today I uploaded some HTML content, and then went to amend the description of a few pages via the Pages section and I was given the same error again.

The hosting company is Web Hosting 4 Life. I have just re-opened the support ticket with them again to see what they come up with. So far they have given me no information other than: "the site is now up and running". A little more form them would be nice.
