Hi

I used to develop in VS.Net for IBuySpy and have just returned to it with Express and DNN4. I have used the install kit and can't find the ascx.vb code-behind files, of course. So I downloaded the source code and searched there - and still cant find them.

What is the best way to set up DNN for module development with Express to give access to source code of the standard modules?

For example,  I want to see the EditSurvey.ascx.vb file - but where is it?

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

you need to download the individual modules in order to view the code, take a look at the projects page for the various modules that come standard with DNN:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/tabid/824/default.aspx

the code you downloaded is probably the DNN framework. You should download the starter kit, and start from there.

Thank you, that is very helpful. I have downloaded the code for the source module and am still a bit confused. Specifically, the html defines a code behind page for example EditSurvey.ascx defines Edit Survey.ascx.vb but there is no page there.

I am beginning to suspect that the code that changes the order in the options list is now internal to the ListBox control and there is nothing to put on an ascx.vb page - is this right?

Note, that all DotNetNuke project modules still are created using ASP 1.1, so they can be used on both DNN 3 and DNN 4.

I am not sure that I understand what you are saying. Does this mean that I should NOT use the new functionality in ASP.NET 2.0 Server Controls in writing a module I hope to sell because people on DNN 3 will not be able to use it?

If so, is there any setting in Visual Web Developer Express, for example, that checks for ASP.NET 1.1 compliance in your code?
