Dears,

as I am using DNN Community just for a personal website (hosted) and has no deep knowledge of it I have following problem. I recognized, that there is new (05.06.01) version and I tried upgrade. As usual - downloaded zip file, extracted in my local PC and extracted file uploaded using FTP to hosting server. After that also same as before many time - run IE and put my site URL. But this time insted of upgrade starting is displayed following error:

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="Off"/> </system.web> </configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/> </system.web> </configuration>

Any idea whats wrong ?

Please find the <customErrors . . . /> tag in the site's web.config and temporarily change the value of the mode attribute to mode="Off". Note that this is case-sensitive so use upper case "O" and lower case "ff". Re-save the web.config file and re-upload it if necessary to your host. When you next visit your site url, you should see the actual error details. Please post those to this thread so we can help you find the cause of the error.

Also, please confirm that you used the 05.06.01 Upgrade package.

I replied to Deni's issue in the thread that he started but I do want to stress that the original poster's upgrade issue is very likely to be a different one. The yellow Server Application Error gives no information so it is important that the original poster reply with the error message details that will be shown after making the modification to the <customErrors . . . /> node of the site's web.config file.
