Hi Marcel,

You know, it never occured to me that the video would stream, even though it was set to not start automatically. In fact, on the older HTML version of the site it didn't. But I guess this combination of DNN and ASP.NET the streaming starts up and it was a 35MB file.

After messing around with it all morning (as well as a rollback on the DNN install to a previous version) I think I might have it working.

I'm now using JW Player, playing an MP4 version of the video. I'm also using a placeholder jpg for the player.

Could you have a look again to see how it's working now?

Thanks again!

Jim

BTW - After speaking to a Godaddy rep, I found out that "4GH" is just a branding mark for Godaddy's "Grid" servers they already have in place. They are just trying a new marketing concept to get customers on-board.

Yep its performing a lot better now albeit that the server is taking its time to wake up and initially load your site.

There are other things you could do the improve the sites performance but I  dont think anyone will be unhappy with the performance of the site now.

glad I could help

Marcel

I would suggest that you have a look at a 3rd party monitoring service to keep the site alive - and avoid that delay when you first visit the site.

There are a number of both free and paid services out there that do this sort of thing for you - basically they visit your site on a regular basis - every 15mins or so - to check that your site is working.  They can be configured to send you an email if your site is offline - but the big advantage is that your site will always respond quickly when you visit it - because every time they check your site is running - it keeps the site application alive for the next 20 minutes.

http://www.dnnmonitor.com/ is a sponsor funded site - that is free to use - it does not offer all the capabilities of some of the more expensive paid servers - but it does a pretty good job of keeping your site alive.

Yep. I forgot about them. In fact, I already have an account setup with them and a few sites already being monitored. I just added this site, hopefully it'll help.

Thanks!
