I just got off the phone with Godaddy tech support and they said they have never heard the phrase "web farm" before ;-) So, I have no idea how their "grid servers" are configured.

Their marketing info states "Hosted across multiple servers with proprietary Dynamic Traffic Management. Easy-to-manage and affordable. It's the next generation of Web Hosting." if that says anything useful.

Thanks.

I would put that in the - time to move hosts category.
ASP.NET based systems need to be properly tuned to work well in grid/cloud type environments.
This has a lot to do with how the session state is managed by the application pool.
Have also seem php applications have all sorts of similar problems.

But having said this - I would give godaddy support some grief - they claim dotnetnuke as one of their
supported platforms - seems like they should be able to help out.

If not you maybe should consider moving to a dedicated dnn hosting platform  powerdnn.com or dnn4less.com

Thanks for the response.

I went ahead and had my client purchase another hosting account on Godaddy, but this time using their "legacy" shard server. I tried to "move" the current site to the new space, but couldn't get it to work. So, I spent the better part of the weekend rebuilding the site one page at a time.

It's now running much better and using the latest build of DNN.

As as Godaddy goes they will state, without any apologies, that they do not support 3rd party applications. Period.

I currently manage 26 hosting accounts with Godaddy (and 5 with Network Solutions) all running DNN. It is nice to be familiar with all of the admin control panels that a hosting company uses. But, it might be time to start looking at other platforms.

Thanks again.

Just as a late follow-up: I have another DNN site on Godaddy that has been kind of on "pause" for a few months and I went back today to review it and noticed the same sort of poor access time (in fact it never responded at all) as the site that started this thread. I checked the Godaddy control panel for the hosting account and sure enough it's running on their 4GH grid servers. I did post a message or two about this on their forums and I was sent a link to review their 4GH specs. I thought I would post the link here to see if anyone might see an issue in the list that might cause DNN (Community Edition) to have issues.

Godaddy 4GH info

Thanks.
