Using SSMSE 2008 and my SQL instance name is MSSQLSERVER. My database is renamed to JayJohengen.mdf and resides in App_Data subdirectory.

This is in my web.Config file:

<!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005/2008 Express -->
        <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=JayJohengen-PC\MSSQLSERVER;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|\App_Data\JayJohengen.mdf;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>

I'm getting this error:

Connection Error(s):
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 20
Number: 87
Message:

Please help, I'm so tired of IIS and SQL Server configurations and I was hoping this would just be a simple install.

I didn't post it for brevity's sake, but they are the same.

The connection string would appear to be correct for SQL Server 2005/2008 EXPRESS. Please confirm that you have installed MS SQL Server 2005 or 2008 EXPRESS as the User Instance feature and AttachDBFilename are specific to the EXPRESS versions and may not be used with the standard versions of MS SQL Server.

Well, I was pretty sure I installed the Express version and I know it was free. Here is the location of the service running:

"c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe" -sMSSQLSERVER

I know during the install I named it MSSQLSERVER from, I though, MSSQLEXPRESS (or something close to that).

I'm also running SSMSE, but maybe it works with both editions?

I'm somewhat new to this and definitely new to DotNetNuke, so any guidance is very welcome.
