I HATE that I have to ask for help on this but I give up. I had setup my DNN portal at www.mydomain.com/dotnetnuke and want to change the folder name since I am using GoDaddy hosting (argh) and can't use the root directory. I do not want to publish the site live with this url. I have tried adding a new alias, changing the folder name - and receive errors. "Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS."

Such a simple thing with no luck.

On a side note, I thought I had setup a redirect with a root redirect that ended up looking as if it was installed on the root directory before. I can't remember and do not have access to those files any longer.

Thanks in advance!

To be clear, these are the steps I tried. After successful install using GoDaddy's application install feature, I went into Portal Alias via Admin. There was already one alias created with the install using mydomain.com/dotnetnuke. I added another alias using mydomain.com/newfolder. Then I went into my File Manager in godaddy and changed the actual folder name to be "newfolder" instead of "dotnetnuke." When I try to access the site using the new portal name - I receive the error first mentioned. I checked my tables in my database to ensure the Portal Alias was correct. I even tried updating the table via SQL scripts to only use the new alias after renaming the folder and that does not work either. I know there must be either 1) something I'm missing that should be obvious to me or 2) some issue specific to using GoDaddy as a host. sigh.
