Hello,

I have two DNN portals that use the same database but with different prefixes. My internet provider (blazernetwork) went belly-up over the weekend so I'm trying to move my portals. Through some detective work I was able to determine the IP addresses of the MSSQL and IIS servers and have access to my files (their DNS entries are shot so I need the IP addresses). I copied the portal files to my new provider and created a new MSSQL database.

Now the tricky part.

I'm unable to copy the database using Enterprise Manager. In the end it always errors out saying I don't have permissions but no details. By narrowing down the parts that EM should transfer I was able to get the table structure and stored procedures. Table content however is a problem.  Somehow I can't get EM to create an SQL script that does INSERT statements for all records. I've tried to use a few other tools but no luck yet.

This must be a very basic problem that has been solved many times. I'll continue googling for an answer but perhaps someone can suggest a technique that reliably copies an entire database or at least the table data from one server to another?

Thanks,

   Sander

If you've your sql details, then I recommend transferring the data and objects via DTS
