hi guys

i have a dnn 5.5.1 project that i'm working on in vs2008 in my work place.
the machine is xp pro sp2 with framework 3.5 sp1 , sqlserver express 2005 and iis 5.1 of course,
all working good in vs2008 enviourment and i can get data from my database that sits in sqlexpress.

when i'm trying to move my project to iis i see all the time the install wizard no matter what i tried.
i'm sure theres no problem with the connection string cause in vs2008 it does reach the database. (i'm using windows authentication).
and i set the asp.net permission to the folder with full control and i checked to see in iis if default document (default.aspx) exists and it does,
and i selected asp.net 2 and i added a portal alias in the table.

in the other hand i did succeed to get my site to work in my home pc with windows 7 and iis 7 with the same project and sqlexpress 2005.

what could be the reason that its not working in iis 5.1?
could it be because i installed iis after framework was installed? i dont think thats the reason cause i created another
simple website and i managed to load it to iis.

does anyone have an idea?

IIS uses a different Windows user ("ASPNET" or "Network Service") than your cassini (using your personal account). make sure you granted all file system permissions to this user.

i tried every way to set the permissions and still i come to the install wizard and if i click next it says Your site passed the permissions check
so i guess i did it ok.
i know i should do the permission settings only on the main directory in wwwroot and not in each folder and file in that directory
but when i see the security tab for example in some sub folder i dont see that the settings i set took effect on that folder or any sub
folder/file i checked.
should i c the same permissions settings on each sub folder/file that i set on the main directory?
cause in windows 7 / iis 7 i c that every sub folder or file has the same permissions settings i set on the main directory.

maybe i'm doing somthing wrong?
should i set the permissions threw iis and not threw the directory itself and if yes how?

make sure, the permission get applied to all files and folder, DNN permission check checks only the root, assuming same permissions applied for all sub folders.
