Hi,

I recently installed a new dnn site with 5.6.2 and I transfered content from an website on an older version of DNN.  All the content transfered fine but I am getting an error when I click on the links.

The resource cannot be found.

Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.  Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Requested URL: /LinkClick.aspx

I looked at fixes for this but I cannot find any handlers for this in the webconfig files.  Any ideas?

Thanks
Ginnie

You'll need to copy the handlers from an existing web.config file to get things working again.

Manual, that typically occurs when the web.config is missing handler information. I've seen WebsitePanel (a hosting tool) remove the handler sections of a web.config before, and that is likely what has happened with yours. I would contact the hosting provider and see if they can assist.

Although improperly configured or missing LinkClickHandler registration in the site's web.config can result in an HTTP 404 error, later 5.x versions of DotNetNuke will also intentionally throw a 404 error if the the anonymous or logged in user does not have "Open Files In Folder" permission granted on the folder containing the file that is to be downloaded. That permission needs to be set up in Admin-->File Manager. Each security role that you want to be able to download via the LinkClickHandler must have a green check mark in the "Open Files In Folder" column of the folder's permission grid.
