Last week, suddenly my linkclick.aspx links throughout my site stopped working as well. An upgrade to 5.6.2 in my case fixed the issue instantly. Very odd, and very scary at the same time - it's amazing how crippled my sites were without the linkclick working.

I'm having the same problem.  Upgraded to 5.6.3 (it was broken before this version, not sure which version it broke on).  LinkClick.aspx on a PDF just opens a blank page.  xls and docs all work prompting for a download.  My web.config seems to have everything properly entered for the handler.  I updated all my links to not use LinkClick.aspx, except the Documents module which uses LinkClick.aspx on the title.

Seems like many people have this issue, but I haven't found a resolution yet on my 2nd day of searching for an answer.  Anyone know of anything I can try?

For now you can shut off the title links in the docs module until you get an answer just as a work around. Then only the download link would be active.

There are two handlers section in web.config <system.webServer>\<handlers> (IIS7) and <system.web>\<httpHandlers>(IIS6). Ensure your handler is present per your IIS environment. A quick way to test if your handler is setup or not is to try a url like this: http://yoursite/LinkClick.aspx?link=1.... Note I am passing a value of 1 to all the settings. If the LinkClick handlers are configured, this link should take to the home page I believe.

I was able to troubleshoot this a little further and it seems to only happen in IE9 with PDF's.  I did try the fake link you mention above like http://localhost/LinkClick.aspx?link=1&tabid=1&mid=1 and I get a blank page as well only in IE9.

I swear that Firefox was giving me some sort of XML error, but that's not happening now so it currently works in all browsers except IE9 and only on PDF's.

My web.config seems to be correctly configured for IIS7 so I'm assuming now it's just some sort of IE9 compatibility issue.
