Hello everyone

I have a question about Portal Alias.

To connect to my website I have to type "http://mywebsite.com/dnn" I've added the Alias "http://mywebsite.com" to my site under Admin > Site Settings but when I just enter "http://mywebsite.com" I end up going to that default IIS splash page.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

Thanks,
Dean

You need to set up mywebsite.com and www.mywebsite.com as Host headers for IIS
as well as add both of them for dotnetnuke.

what jcates is saying, your name server simply routes mywebsite.com to your server, where it gets served by the default web site. If your web site is created as a virtual directory dnn inside the default web site, you always will have to access it using mywebsite.com/dnn. you need to create a new web site bound to host headers www.mywebsite.com and mywebsite.com host header values and pointing to your dnn directory (after you removed the virtual directory dnn from default web site). You may need to adjust a couple of links to images and files, especially in HTML texts.
