Hi All,

I would like some assistance on migrating from Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2. I tried the obvious; copied the folders over to the new system and BAM #*%#! Well that didn't work.

I have to admit, I'm very familiar with II 7.x.

Thanks for any guidance.

Well that was confusing, what I meant to say was that I'm not very familiar with IIS 7.x :)

you need to setup a web site like in IIS 6 - the UI has changed, but the concept is pretty much the same. you need to grant ASP.Net 2 or 4 and make sure, your Application Pool is set up correctly.

Hey, thanks for replying. If I understand correctly and reading between the lines, go ahead and setup DNN as if it were a new installation (download and install DNN) then once that is going go ahead and overlay that with the actuall installation. Correct? Or am I reading to much in to what you are suggesting?

Thanks.

The best way to setup the required permissions on a new server is to do a fresh installation. Once the installation is successful the environment will be setup. Then there are just the basic IIS and DNS change to be made, just as you would do to launch any website.
