I'm facing a pretty confusing issue with my DNN installation. I'm running 05.06.02 (144) on my own server, set up with child portals. Here's the issue: whenever I try to edit a module by hovering over the arrow next to it to display the module action menu (I believe that's what it's called), the arrow turns into a spinning loading wheel icon, but the menu never loads.

I've checked this out with FireBug and I see a POST request being made to Default.aspx when I hover over the arrow, but nothing is returned. The problem started when I first installed this DNN setup - after installing it, I imported templates (with content) from my existing DNN setup (hosted on a shared hosting server), where everything worked.

Here's what I've tried so far:
  • I first setup this DNN installation with version 05.06.01, but upgrading to 05.06.02 didn't fix it.
  • I tried the menu thing on the host portal and locally, but that didn't work either.
  • I've searched online, but haven't found any solutions, other than some probably-unrelated issues that contained suggestions to try changing the skin (but I can't upload a new skin without accessing the hover menu next to the Skin module!)
Thoughts? What gives?

Thanks so much.

When logged in as host user:

1. Navigate to Host --> Host Settings
2. Expand the Advanced Settings then Performance Settings section
3. Change "Compression Setting" to "No Compression"
4. Update Host Settings

This is a known issue involving the action menus as well as some post-back/client side javascript functions in File Manager, etc. The issue  was introduced in DNN 5.6.1 and not fixed in DNN 5.6.2.

I tried that, but it doesn't work yet. Do I need to disable caching in the same settings section, too? Does it take a while to take effect?

Thanks so much! :)

I recently upgraded from 05.06.00 to 05.06.02 and I can no longer access any of the hover menus as well. Tried the Compression setting option, but the compression was already set to "No Compression". Any guidance anyone has would be appreciated!

Hello,

I have the exact same problem. My compression setting is set to "No compression", but still, module menus don't show up in Internet Explorer 8.0/ Firefox 4.0, except for Chrome and Opera. I have DotNetNuke 5.6.1. If you have found a way to make it work, I would be very interested in it.

Thanks in advance
