I Upgraded to 05.06.02.  I had trouble uploading my images to Photo Gallery (Simple Gallery from http://www.ventrian.com/). I worked with Scott McCulloch from Ventrian, and we determined that it was not an issue with his modules but a DNN issue. During the troubleshooting, it was determined that I can not upload images via File Manager, even when logged in as HOST, however I can upload other files (text, PDF) (eliminating a permissions issue).

OS Version:  Microsoft Windows NT 5.2.3790 Service Pack 2
Web Server Version:  Microsoft-IIS/6.0
.NET Framework Version:  2.0.50727.3620
ASP.NET Identity:  NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE

This server has been running for a while, but as suggested, I reconfirmed  NTFS file permissions. As a note, though, I can occasionally get lucky and get an image uploaded..  I need to get this resolved, but I do not know what else to check.

Please help.

What happens when you attempt to upload an image file - time out, error message, error logged in the event viewer, etc.?

How large (KB or MB) are the image files you are attempting to upload?

Are the JPG images standard jpg's or a "lossless" variation that may not be able to be processed by .Net GDI+ methods?

Please post the element from web.config.

Please provide more details and post complete error message including stack trace from event viewer if possible.

Bill,

The upload just hangs no error messages are generated. The average size are from 77kb to 400kb. The images should be standard JPG images. The images are from my Digital Camera, resized in Photoshop. Prior to upgrading, I never had an issue posting these pictures.

Which element do you want? Got it, the brackets prevented the display here in the forums, but ti was present in the email

httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="20480" executionTimeout="3600"

No error in Event log

Try adding the following attribute and value to the <httpRuntime> element:

requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192"

That is the default value for DotNetNuke sites. Without the requestLengthDiskThreshold element the default ASP.Net value is only 256 bytes. Some modules which handle their own file upload don't properly buffer the upload file stream if  the requestLengthDiskThreshold is set to too low a value. I've also seen one module (can't recall which one) that would not handle large uploads if the requestLengthDiskThreshold was set to any value other than the value for maxRequestLength. Note also that the requestLengthDiskThreshold must not be set to a value larger than that for maxRequestLength. Although not the cause of this issue I would also reduce executionTimeout as it now allows for 60 minutes. One site of mine routinely does uploads in the 12 MB range and as I recall we are using an executionTimeout ="300".

Bill,
Thanks for the assistance. I made the two changes as noted in your message. As a test, logged on as HOST, i was able to upload 3 images successfully to the portal root. I hung up on the 4th picture. We are making progress. I also attempted to upload via Simple Gallery. I did a batch upload of 4 images, I only got 1 and it hung on the rest. I'm open for more suggestions.
