DNN 05.06.02
.Net 3.5 SP2
Sql Express 2005
Windows 2003 R2 Server

Every few months, I seem to lose permission on all my files such that no one can download them and on all my icons and images such that no one can see them (they appear as missing image icons)

In the past, I have been unable to solve this and so have simply had users re-upload images and files.  Not the most liked decision but there were no easy answers available via search.

The network services account has full access to the whole site directory.

I just upgraded from 4.07 to 05.06 Professional, using the upgrade path, hoping that would fix the issue but no luck.

Now, when I go to portal admin as host or go to upload a file at all (as I would have instructed users to do in the past) I get a message taht says "You do not have permissions to view any files on the file system"

Anyone have any idea where I should begin to look to solve this problem and stop it from happening again?

Thank you.  Do you think a file in the DNN structure is becoming corrupted?

If I go to file manager, I see no one has permissions to anything where they used to.

If I go to the page that hosts my documents modules, there is an error that says:

A critical error has occurred.
Object cannot be cast from DBNull to other types.

If I add a documents module to another page or examine the settings on one of the existing documents modules, I see an error:

An error has occurred.
Error: Documents is currently unavailable.
